Group 5 will be analyzing Bed Bath and Beyond and the aspects of information systems involved and how it provides a competitive advantage. We plan to interview Catherine Kowal, the store manager of a local Bed Bath and Beyond. They started in the company straight after high school and worked their way up the ladder to store manager. They learned everything they know about their position while working in the field. They have been supervisors and managers at other businesses as well but Bed Bath and Beyond is where they have been working as the store manager the longest.
Purpose
The thesis of our project is that information systems support strategy and provide a competitive advantage. Our objective is to analyze two business processes and identify problems and make recommendations on how information systems can better support the Bed, Bath & Beyond strategy.
Company Information
Bed Bath and Beyond is an Omnichannel retailer which provides a variety of products they specialize in Homegoods but provide products including beauty products, wellness supplies,etc. As of 2022 Bed Bath and Beyond operates 4 websites, and stores in all 50 states with over 955 locations. They also operate 12 stores in Mexico.
Overview
The sections that will be discussed in this paper are as follow: the business strategy, structured process analysis, dynamic process analysis, recommendations and the conclusion. They will go into greater detail, explaining the role of each part within Bed Bath and Beyond.
